Exactly twenty years ago, Arco Arena in Sacramento, California witnessed history in the making. It was October 29, 2003. And a 18 year-old kid from Akron, Ohio was making his NBA debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers. As the most anticipated debut of the season, LeBron had a lot riding on his shoulders. And to no one?s surprise, ?The Chosen One? delivered.

The match did end in a loss for Cleveland. But James showed the world what they should expect from him in the coming years. He put up 25 points with 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals, setting an NBA record for the most points scored by a prep-to-pro player in his debut performance. And this was just a preview into the long list of history that James would be making.?

King in the making

James was selected by his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the first overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. After a spectacular debut season averaging 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, James won the much deserved Rookie of the Year award. He also became the third player in league history to average at least 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game as a rookie.

After seven years with the Cavaliers, James made the controversial move to South Beach. With the Miami Heat, he won two of his four championships and two of his four league MVP trophies in back-to-back seasons. After wrapping up his most successful stint with a team, James returned back to Cleveland to lead the team to win the title.?

In 2018, LeBron chose to continue his colorful legacy with the Los Angeles Lakers. And he led the team to a championship in 2020. James also became the all-time leading scorer in NBA history last season, a record previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.?

At 38 years young, LeBron still continues to exceed expectations with his deliveries. As he continues to perform at near peak levels, it seems like Bron has no plans of hanging his shoes up. While most players would retire by their 20th season, James has said multiple times that his goal is to play with both of his sons in the NBA.
