The NBA calendar is currently moving through its least exciting time of year. But, it seems that the last summer NBA conversation has returned to one of the fanbase’s favorite narratives: the GOAT debate. However, this time it’s about the greatest point guard of all time. After Michael Jordan chimed in on the debate, the Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard followed suit.

Both Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson have etched their names as the best point guards in NBA history. Statistically, Magic? leads in terms of All-Star and All-NBA selections and championships. He also seems to be leading the tally for rebounds, assists, and steals. However, Chef Curry surpasses Johnson in the scoring category. To be fair, statistics are not an accurate measure of their greatness since Curry’s career is still ongoing, and he still has a lot to accomplish. They are both the greatest in their own right and eras. Despite his size, the GSW guard revolutionized the basketball landscape to what it is today. On the other hand, the five-time champion MJ played in one of the toughest eras, but he still managed to leave an indelible mark.

When asked to choose between Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson, Damian Lillard gave a straightforward response. “I think Magic is the greatest point guard all the time. Just because, I mean, the way he dominated the game, the versatility, the size, the swag, the flashiness that he brought you know, he made them to Showtime Lakers. So I mean, I think that’s undeniable,” said the Blazers point guard.

However, while he did acknowledge the Baby-Faced Assassin’s greatness as a point guard, he had an unusual opinion. He said,I think Steph is right there…he’s more in a shooting guard type of role. You know it’s a lot of movement off the ball. Draymond is almost like the actual point guard in the team“.?
