He got penalized with a Flagrant 2 foul for excessive and unnecessary contact to the face.

Draymond Green punished by Adam Silver

NBA Insider Adrain Wojnarowski reported that the NBA is suspending Draymond Green indefinitely. The punishment comes a day after the Warriors Center hit Jusuf Nurkic in a violent act. There is no timeline as to when Draymond will return to action, and that is something we have never seen before. This will be Green’s second suspension of this season. He served a 5-game suspension last month for putting Timberwolves Center Rudy Gobert in a choke hold during a game. It looks like the 4-time Champion did not learn anything from his previous punishment. Hopefully, the indefinite suspension will send a stronger message to the Center.

Draymond Green’s absence and ‘dirty’ tactics are a big reason the Warriors are struggling this season. Stephen Curry and Co. are 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 10-14 losing record. Draymond has played only 15 games this season, averaging 9.7 points and 5.5 rebounds.

The Warriors might fall even more in the standings with Draymond out of the line-up. However, Draymond’s punishment was warranted, and it will be among some of the harshest suspensions in league history.

Where does Draymond Green’s suspension rank in NBA history?

After Draymond Green’s reported indefinite suspension becomes official, he will join the list of some of the harshest punishments ever. The record for the longest suspension in league history is held by former Milwaukee Bucks guard O.J. Mayo. He was suspended by the league for two seasons (164 games) in 2016 after he violated the NBA Anti-Drug Program for the second time in his career. He was never able to recover from that incident, and his NBA career ended in 2016.

Another infamous suspension on the list is Ron Artest’s 86-game suspension after Malice at the Palace. Recently, Adam Silver suspended Ja Morant for 25 games for detrimental conduct to the league. The Grizzlies superstar is still serving his suspension.
