Rich Paul is known globally as one of the most powerful agents of all time. Everything he learned was from firsthand experience. He did not have a college degree, nor did he go to a business school. Rich’s meeting with LeBron James in an airport is what changed the course of his life. Since then, he’s been climbing up the ranks and has now moved to represent the NFL.

Safe to say that the top NFL agents are going to have a tough time keeping their heads about. Rich Paul’s life, though, wasn’t always as easy. Everybody can have dreams, big ones. Talking to Pat McAfee on his show, Rich opens up about how his father and the community gave completed him. “Growing up with a Dad like I had and my community, I was lucky to have that. The good and the bad of it, because you need all of it to be complete. To be whole.”

It is not the first time that Rich’s childhood has come up during talks. He is the classic example of rags to riches. Of course, he didn’t have a fairy godmother to simply wave her wand. The closest to something magical happening in Rich’s life was the meeting with LeBron James.

Rich’s love for sports goes back to his school days

Rich Paul is a natural when it comes to business. All thanks to his father, Rich Paul Sr. He was a single parent who lived in the not-so-safe Glenville. Though they didn’t have much to live on, Rich Sr. was adamant his son had all the necessities. That was what prompted him to send his son to Cleveland Benedictine High School – a prominent all-white Catholic school. It was here that his love for basketball took off to new heights.

Rich was on the high school basketball team as well as part of the team that brought home a state championship back in 1998. Now, his love for the sport took a different route. He helps his clients land the best deal they deserve to get. And, anyone who has dealt with Rich will agree he is a hard-headed businessman when it comes down to it.

Talking to the 19 news team, Rich has some words of wisdom for youngsters. “You may not be able to be someone flying through the air catching a touchdown on Super Bowl Sunday, but you can definitely be me, you could definitely be better than what you perceive me to be.” He hopes his story can encourage kids who are probably going through the same hardships he went through to take initiative. We hope so too.
