Certified by FIA for being "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige," the Monaco Circuit has staged a record number of races in F1 history.

This has been a circuit with historical relevance in the F1 calendar. The Circuit de Monaco has featured F1 World Championship since 1929. It has offered the sport some of the greatest races in its entire term.

There is one distinct feature of the Monaco Grand Prix that makes it stand out of the F1 calendar. Unlike other races, the Monaco GP starts on Thursday as opposed to Friday.

Last year, the global pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the weekend races at Monaco. Lewis Hamilton clinched the F1 win in the 2019 race held by the Circuit de Monaco.

However, one of the fan-favorite F1 track made its return to the calendar in 2021. The Monaco GP 2021 is set to take place from 20 - 23 May.

Circuit Details

The Circuit de Monaco has staged various genres of motorsports. It currently measures 3.337 kilometers, comprising of 19 turns.

The grid with FIA Grade 1 originally from 1929 to 1972 measured 3.145 kilometers with 14 turns. The authority redesigned the circuit innumerable times since 1973, to make the circuit more challenging and adventurous and also look in the arena of racers' safety.

The circuit of 1973-1975 measured 3.278 kilometers and consisted of 14 turns, along with crafted a swimming pool section to make it look more attractive.

The changes in 1976-1985 added new sharp, quicker, and smaller chicanes to the circuit. The track measured 3,312 kilometers with 23 turns.

It went through some minor changes in the years of 1989 to 1996, where a new chicane was introduced, making the track length 3.328 kilometers with 25 turns. The years 1997 to 2002 fixed the area of the swimming pool, with a new circuit length of 3.370 kilometers.

The years 2003 to 2014 witnessed the major modifications. New chicanes were added, and some were redesigned. The track comprised a set of 19 turns, measuring 3.337 kilometers.

The final changes of 2015 to the current time have moved the Tabac, maintaining the same count of turns and same measurement as its prior year.

Where to Watch

In Asia, Australia, and Latin America, the practice sessions, qualifying, and the race will stream on Fox Sports Channel. People from the Indian subcontinent can enjoy the race on STAR Sports. In Africa, SuperSport will broadcast it.

Belgium has RTBF and Telenet for the entire highlights and the streaming of the race. Brazilians would need to watch it on TV Globo and SporTV while Bulgaria can view it on Nova and Diema Sport.

RDS and TSN will broadcast the entire course of the race for Canada. However, for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Sport 1, Sport2, Sport 5 will take charge of the broadcast. China will stream the race on CCTV, Tencent, Guangdong TV, and Shanghai TV.

Denmark will have TV3+, TV3 Sport, and ViaSat, while Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania will have TBC for broadcast.

Finland will telecast the race on MTV, and France will do so on TF1 and Canal+. Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will have RTL Germany for their people to enjoy the race. Greece will stream it on ERT and Cosmote TV.

Hungary will broadcast the entire weekend on M4. Israel will have the broadcast on the Sports Channel while the Italians will witness it on Sky Italia and TV8.

Japan will watch it on Fuji Television, Network Inc., and Dazn. TUDN Mexico will telecast the race for Mexico, while Montenegro will view it on SportKlub.

The Netherlands will broadcast it on Ziggo, New Zealand will do so on Spark sport. Eleven Sport will telecast the entire event for Poland and Portugal.  Russia will watch it on Match TV.

Spain and Andorra have Movistar. Turkey will stream it on S Sport. The United Kingdom will broadcast the entire event on C4 and Sky Sports, while ESPN will telecast the entire course for the USA.
