In a world where fame and fortune often hide struggles, two fighters expose a hidden reality. As known by all, Mike Tyson is training Francis Ngannou for his forthcoming bout with Tyson Fury. Moreover, he recently invited Francis Ngannou to his renowned podcast “Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson.” In the podcast, they discussed varying topics and issues. However, one such agenda of discussion that caught the eye of many was them being foreigners in the United States of America.

As a renowned philosophy, success never comes easy to anyone. Moreover, for foreigners, the path has unique challenges. In the episode, Ngannou and ‘Iron Mike’ shared a unique conversation. Furthermore, they unveiled the dark truths of being a foreigner in the US. Their discussion highlighted the impediments they both faced as they entered the land of America.

What did Mike Tyson and Ngannou reveal about America?

Mike Tyson and Francis Ngannou’s conversation is more than about fighting. They talk about the harsh realities of being a foreigner in the U.S. Their discussion threw light on the fact that there are many opportunities in America, however, the hurdles too are no less. As Mike said, “Black people don’t get that sh*t; they come from Africa. No, everybody, we’re only coming up. Like, if I came to, um, Denmark — say, Denmark, right? — and, um, Sweden, and I just come and I’m a foreigner, they’re not gonna give me those rights because I’m not a citizen yet.”

Furthermore, Ngannou added his experience of being in France and how it was totally distinct from America. Ngannou said, “They didn’t do anything like that, but you can go to the hospital and apply to see a doctor. That doctor will send you to a social worker that will maybe sign a paper for you to see a doctor. You will see a doctor, and you will get medicine and all that.”

Where Ngannou comes from Cameroon, he echoes Tyson’s feelings. As Mike said in America, “you can’t pay, you better move.” Moreover, he elucidates about his unique challenges as an immigrant. He struggled to adapt and felt secluded. Furthermore, he talked about the flawed health care system of America. Francis eked to his opinion saying, “You just need to prove that you have no source of income. But I, I do want it. Let’s do that over here. Yeah, it’s tricky because I don’t want an income, you know. I’d rather have a good income and then pay for my health, than have free health insurance or free food without having the income. So now, I, I’m dependent on the system or whoever is providing that to me, you know.”
