Ryan Garcia and his theatrics continue to concern and puzzle many. Despite the biggest fight of his career on the horizon, his trolling has overshadowed his preparations. Has the American reached the pinnacle of popularity too soon? Has it gone to “his head”? While fans and pros have tried to decode the agenda behind the unwarranted social media antics, UFC champion Sean O’Malley has come up with a plausible answer to all of it.

‘KingRy’ squares off against Devin Haney on April 20 with the WBC strap on the line. However, the lead-up to the fight turns out to be ugly and bizarre, as Garcia’s comments have thrown everyone off. Not only are there doubts about his seriousness and commitment to this fight, but also his focus. So, where did Garcia go wrong?

‘Sugar’ appeared on Fight Hub TV, and when asked about Garcia’s shenanigans at press conferences, he blamed it on fame, money, and the people around him. He said, “He is a young kid. I think he is 25 years old, made a lot of money, making a lot of money. Becoming very popular and famous at a young age is dangerous.” O’Malley continued and drew parallels with himself.

He achieved fame, but it was gradual, and he could adjust to it. He expanded on his argument and expressed, ” I gradually kind of became more popular since I was 22, 23, 24. Kind of grew up in the spotlight, and thankfully, I didn’t make that much money. If I would have made as much money as I’m making now when I was 23, 24, 25, it’s hard to say how you turn out.”

Garcia is outpouring his private life, inviting Kanye to perform, and most recently, finding proof of aliens. While Bernard Hopkins believes it’s a ploy to get into Haney’s head, Garcia’s ex-wife, Drea Celina, asked to pray for him. It is not atypical for fighters to employ such a tactic to mess up with their opponents to gain some psychological ground. But whether it is mere trolling or something else, it might have a bearing on the result when he steps into the boxing ring with Haney next.
