Mayweather Promotions CEO Not Surprised by Sean O’Malley’s Bold Call-Out to Gervonta Davis

Sean O’Malley recently declared that he would not mind knocking out Lightweight boxing champion Gervonta Davis. Although O’Malley was afraid people would claim he wanted to follow in Conor McGregor‘s footsteps, the UFC Bantamweight champion announced that “me vs. Gervonta would be f***ing massive“. In his opinion, with just another belt, O’Malley would be in a position to face Davis. “I also wouldn’t mind knocking out Gervonta Davis and I know people are going to say I wanna be like Conor(McGregor). I’m telling you…that fight is going to happen,” O’Malley said.

Davis vs. O’Malley being “big enough”, the latter is confident that he would receive the required support from the UFC. Thus O’Malley added, “I feel like it could happen sooner than later. But I also know, OK, UFC is down to get behind stuff like that if it’s big enough.” In the wake of O’Malley now calling out Gervonta Davis, CEO of Mayweather Promotions announced that he was barely surprised.

As per O’Malley’s statements, although he does not follow boxing he has “heard” the name of Gervonta Davis. The UFC champion “thinks” Davis is undefeated and likewise capable of giving the former a massive fight. “I don’t really follow boxing, but I’ve heard of Gervonta Davis. I think he’s undefeated, I want to have crazy, massive fights. That sh*t gets me excited. I love that stuff. There are no stars in the bantamweight division. Gervonta, you can consider him almost a star, and that’s what gets me excited,” said O’Malley. In this context, while O’Malley has only “heard” of Davis, Leonard Ellerbe called ‘Tank’ “the biggest attraction in all of combat sports”.

Taking to X, Ellerbe said, “Tank has established himself as one of the biggest attractions in all of combat sports, this kind of stuff doesn’t surprise me at all lol.” With Ellerbe’s statement, it is safe to say that O’Malley has already caught the attention of Team Davis. However, fans would have to wait to see if the bout comes to fruition in the end.
