Joe Rogan is known for many things. He is the host of one of the biggest podcasts in the world and is the face of UFC commentary. However, do you think he should be considered a knowledgeable boxing enthusiast? That is what  Bernard Hopkin would suggest. Recently, the former multiple weight division champion was invited to  ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ as a guest. Amongst other things, Hopkins unveiled the lesser-known part of his career and discussed contemporary boxing.

During their conversation, Hopkins was impressed to see how well-versed Rogan was with the ‘Sweet Science.’ So let’s wait no further and take a look at what Hopkins revealed about Rogan and his knowledge of boxing.

Rogan is known more as a MMA/UFC commentator. However, according to Hopkins, the podcast host is also knowledgeable about the sport of boxing. In an interview with ES News, the former champion said that not only did Rogan possess a deep understanding of the sport but was also well-versed in the history of the sport as well.

He stated, “Joe Rogan first of all, is a very very very educated guy when it comes to boxing. I knew, he knew some things about boxing but I didn’t know he was that deep. I am not talking about not just punching, not just fighters not just different generation.”

Now this begs the question – Can Rogan be a boxing commentator in the future? Only time will tell. However, he frequently weighs in on  certain aspects of boxing and gives his analysis on matchups or boxers. It also bears a mention that Hopkins’ comment may have merit as the two discussed a great lot about the sport. so let’s take a look at them discussing the harsh realities of boxing.

Hopkins and Rogan discuss the lesser-known and dark side of boxing

In the podcast with Joe Rogan, Hopkins revealed that the sport needs stricter enforcement of rules for a fair and transparent administration. He stated, “To at least have law there too; as a structure to adhere and go by and if there is any violation, like anything else, you get chastised for it, you get paid, you get punished in so many ways. To do it, so boxing, unlike any other sport in America, is the only sport that is not regulated by any entity other than itself.” Punishment is essential to keep the system in check.”
