Ahead of Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou on the 28th of October, UFC Heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall is looking forward to assisting ‘The Gypsy King’ with his training. According to Aspinall, since mixed martial artists punch differently from professional boxers, Francis Ngannou still has a chance of winning with somebody in the boxing ring.
Although he acknowledged that Tyson is above Ngannaou skill-wise and would “absolutely school” the former UFC Heavyweight champion, Aspinall believed Ngannou could potentially win given he caught Fury early. In his recent interview with Mirror Fighting, the British mixed martial artist spoke about helping Fury “with his training and stuff“.

UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall to find “a little link-up” for Tyson Fury and help him
In his latest interview, Aspinall declared that he helped Fury “in a couple of camps before” and would do the same before the bout against Ngannou. In Aspinall’s opinion, although he is himself a mixed martial artist, he has given boxers issues during sparring due to his unusual way of punching. “When I spar with boxers, I sometimes give them more issues than other boxers would because I do things a little bit differently than usual boxers would,” he said. According to him, punching in MMA is different from punching in boxing. In this sense, he believes Fury who fought 16 fans needs to be trained accordingly for Ngannou.

Tyson Fury walks around the ring during the Tyson Fury vs Tom Schwarz 12-round Heavyweight boxing match, June 15, 2019 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
“He [Fury] needs some help with his training and stuff, so we might have a little link-up and explore that a little bit,” he announced. Although he believes Ngannou has a chance to win, he simultaneously feels it will be “a tough task” for the Cameroonian-French mixed martial artist. “Over the course of [10] rounds, it’s a tough task for Ngannou to win that fight unless he catches him early,” Aspinall stated.
