Slap fight competitions have gained popularity in recent years. In such contests: two competitors take turns slapping each other in the face and it continues until one gets knocked out. Just earlier this year, the president of the UFC, Dana White  commenced his own slap-fighting promotion called, “Power Slap.” White is a household name in sports and his new venture is at the center of attention and scrutiny.

Combat sports fans are divided in their perception of this sport. Some consider it to be entertaining while others find it problematic due to safety concerns. Meanwhile, Anthony Fowler, Former International Boxing Champion is no fan of the sport and made it evident by condemning the people involved in the sport.

Fowler is a British boxer and in 18 professional fights, he emerged victorious 16 times and was defeated only twice. On Twitter, he has over 100k followers and does not shy away from speaking about his opinions. In a recent tweet, he revealed that he is no fan of slap championships contests and called out individuals behind the curation of this sport.

He stated,They calling this shit a sport everyone involved should be ashamed, exploiting people desperate for cash for their own sick entertainment.”

Fowler just like many fans is not fond of the sport. However, there is a section of the public that loves it, and the same was touched upon by Dana White.

Dana White asserts “Power slap” is garnering attention

White is not bothered about the criticism that is associated with his new promotion, “Power Slap.”

On the contrary, he believes there is a market for the same and substantiates his point by stating, “ I don’t know if you guys have looked at that but on TikTok, you know, we averaged 10 million views per post on TikTok.
