With each passing day, the NFL world seems to be getting more comfortable with prioritizing Taylor Swift. But is this them picking the pop star over the sport? Well, Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza has now come out with his commentary on the obsession of the football world with Swift.

The Kansas City Chiefs lately have been receiving ample coverage. One, of course, for the way they have faired this season on the field. However, another reason for their notoriety this time around has been their key player Travis Kelce’s relationship with Swift. The games that she’s attended have made headlines. One such coverage of hers trended for hours in the internet world, with the Chief’s rival team, the Ravens also cashing in on it.

Another Dig at Taylor Swift?

Last night, the Baltimore Ravens had a good game against the Kansas City Chiefs. While they took some time to cement that gap in scores that came earlier, they finished it off with 17-10 on the scoreboard, in their favor. To celebrate their win, the Ravens did a rendition of the infamous ‘Swag Surf’. It could be their victory lap. However, it might have also touched on throwing shade at their opponents. How?

A few weeks ago, at the request of linebacker Willie Gay, the song ‘Swag Surf’ by Fast Life Yungstaz was played at the Arrowhead Stadium. It was to celebrate the Chiefs’s victory over the Miami Dolphins. Suite members of the team, including Swift were captured swaying back and forth. Last night, when the Ravens did the same, most thought it was their dig on the Chiefs, especially Swift. However, Espinoza, an ardent fan of football, differed. Not just differed, but argued against the assumption.

An X post by the NFL Meme page drew parallels between the Ravens and Chiefs as they both rendered their version of the ‘Swag Surf’. Airing claims that it was the team trolling Swift. The page wrote, “Ravens trolling Taylor Swift by swag surfing… this game is cinema.” Espinoza could not take it. He retorted to the post, “As if Taylor Swift invented swag surfin.” Calling the comparison unjust to the original composers of the song, he further added, “Stop it. Give Fast Life Yungstaz the credit they deserve. Not everything is about Taylor Swift.”

Well, Stephen Espinoza is right. Fast Life Youngstaz, the iconic Hip-hop crew, deserves their credit. Were the Ravens honestly celebrating their win or were they taking a dig at the Chiefs? Or… Were they taking a specific swipe at Taylor Swift? Well, hard to tell.
