The title may not have come the way he would have wanted. Nevertheless, Jaron Ennis is now the IBF welterweight champion. After the P4P king Terence Crawford failed to meet Ennis for a mandatory title defense, because of the Errol Spence Jr. rematch clause, Ennis was made the interim welterweight champion. With 31 wins, the Philly fighter still hopes to meet Bud inside the ring.

Now, Boots Ennis has been ordered to have his first mandatory title defense against Cody Crowley. Ennis fought last year in July against Roiman Villa and secured a knockout victory. Now as Ennis prepares for his next fight, he shared the training footage from camp leaving fans impressed.

Boots shared his pad work and a few images of him in the gym. The post had the caption that read, “Even If we grew on trees they still wouldn’t root for us!” Ennis is represented by his father who is also his head trainer, Derek “Bozy” Ennis Sr. Bozy was uncharacteristically missing from his training clip.

The footage shows some insane speed and certifies Ennis as one of the best welterweights out there. However, Ennis has only competed ten times in the last four years, which makes many question his credibility. Earlier fans were quite angry at Boots for having petitioned the IBF which made the organization then strip Crawford of his hard-fought IBF title. However, now that fans are warming up to Boots, the comment section of the post witnessed some much-vaunted praise being showered at the welterweight champion. Let us see what everyone had to say.

Fan shower Jaron Ennis with praise

The boxing world acknowledged Ennis’ capabilities. “Salute future p4p king and your dad finna b trainer of the year in the next couple years with you and andy!” said one fan, calling Ennis the future pound-for-pound king and his father the trainer of the year.

Another fan said, “The next Sugar Ray Robinson. King Boots,” comparing Ennis to the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson, for the way that he is progressing through his career.

One said, “I feel you have to fight at least 3 times a year. Stop waiting for a certain name and get that work,” advising Ennis to be more active and stop wasting time on a certain fight.

One also said, “You got fans behind you champ. Keep your head up and just focus like you been doing. Your time will come,” showing support to the champion and backing him through thick and thin.

“Can’t get a fight at 147 move up to that 154 smoke king,” said another fan, asking Ennis to move up a division if he is unable to get the undisputed title fight.
