Anthony Taylor defeated King Kenny in a lackluster boxing match in the KSI vs Tommy Fury undercard on 14th October. Judges unanimously scored the fight 49-45, crowning Taylor the new Misfits Boxing light-heavyweight champion. Despite this, the crowd found the match boring. Taylor started the first round aggressively, aiming for his signature overhand right. King Kenny countered by clinching, neutralizing Taylor’s attacks. Taylor dominated the opening round but failed to land any clean hits. In the second round, Taylor successfully hit King Kenny with a leaping left hook and followed with some solid right straights.

The round, however, devolved into more clinching, with Taylor overreaching and King Kenny stifling his efforts. In the third round, Taylor fell from a low blow, eliciting boos from the audience at the AO Arena. The match was losing its appeal. Before the fourth round, King Kenny’s corner gave him a stern talking-to, which seemed to ignite some energy in him, but alas, nothing could stop the inevitable. Less than a week after the bout, Anthony Taylor has made a bold proclamation. In his regard, he is the “Mayweather” of influencer boxing. However, fans angered by the comparison gave him a reality check.

Fans give Anthony Taylor a brutal reality check as he compares himself to ‘Pretty Boy’

In his recent tweet, Taylor blatantly asserted, “I’m the new Floyd Mayweather of cross -over boxing. 10 PPVS IN JUST 2 years of boxing!!! I’m the GOAT. If I defend my title to KSI for my Light heavyweight title. IM THE A-SIDE.” When fans saw this, they hurled scathing responses. According to them, his fight lacked excitement, and that Taylor’s performance was not engaging for the audience at all. One fan dubbed it the “King of the clinch,” highlighting the excessive clinching in the match.

Similarly, another fan sarcastically suggested that the “HUGGING championship” was at stake.

Transitioning to the fighters’ styles, one fan expressed confusion over Anthony Taylor’s inconsistent approach, saying he seemed to be imitating Mike Tyson, Mohammed Ali, and Mayweather all at once. They suggested Taylor should focus on being himself.

Adding to the criticism, another user openly declared Taylor as the “most boring fighter” they had ever watched.

Furthermore, one fan went as far as to say that they would refuse to watch or even illegally stream any card featuring Taylor, calling him “genuinely unwatchable.”
