Both Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are at the top right now, especially after their latest victories which have the fans calling for a potential fight between the two. Crawford defeated Errol Spence Jr. in their mega-fight, meanwhile, Alvarez achieved a convincing win against Jermell Charlo. Thus when Crawford turned his sight towards the undisputed middleweight champion, fans were more than elated. However, Alvarez decisively shut it down stating, “Right now, the fight with Terence Crawford, it doesn’t make sense. I just won, let me enjoy this.” The champion doesn’t appear to be interested in the prospect of the match-up.

Being rejected when he is at the top of his game doesn’t suit well with Terence Crawford and he took to Twitter to make his feelings known. Recently, he shared an almost 3-year-old video of Canelo stating that he is open to facing Spence at 160 lbs. As he shared the video Crawford wrote, “Lol what’s y’all thoughts on @Canelo saying he can make a fight with Spence at 160 but for me he say I can’t make the weight. Wouldn’t make a difference just a thought.” It is understandable that Crawford would try to capitalize on the fame he has received by becoming the undisputed champion in 2 weight divisions. However, for Alvarez, the fight holds no allure at all.

As the post surfaced on social media, fans quickly shared their reactions in the comments. One fan gave out the context for those who didn’t know. He claimed that Terence Crawford is “35yrs old and wanting paydays.” He shared his wish that Crawford could have reached his current status while he was still young. Moreover, he added that the boxer is only saying stuff like this to get attention to “build a ppv fight”.

Another fan pointed out how people simply start accusing Alvarez of ducking the fights. He wrote, “Here come the “Canelos ducking” comments, man can never catch a break”.

Meanwhile, a fan stated that Alvarez is now “3 years older” compared to the time the video was posted. He also pointed out how at the time “Spence could fill out cowboy stadium.”

One fan praised ‘Bud’ for his skills, and stated that Alvarez “knows Spence a sweet lick. It is what it is.”

Someone else claimed, “Bud… you my boy.. but Canelo knocks you out in the 9th round”. He stated, that even if Alvarez is able to do so he will only get “destroyed” by the media “for beating up the smaller fighter.”

Another fan pointed out that even though Alvarez defeated Jermell Charlo recently, he got “zero credit” for it. He stated that because of this Canelo has “no reason” to fight him.
