Gervonta Davis has stunned the world by following in the footsteps of the boxing legends, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. In the video posted by Badou Jack on X, he can be seen welcoming the lightweight boxer into the world of Islam. So after being a devoted Christian for the past 29 years, Davis took a decision for himself that garnered quite some attention from the fans.
Badou extended a warm welcome to ‘Tank’, addressing him as “brother.” He wrote, “Welcome to Islam, brother [Gervonta Davis]. Alhamdulillah.” Accompanying this heartfelt message was a concise yet impactful half-minute video featuring Davis and his companions engaging in recitations after an elder.

Having embraced Islam in 2019, Devin Haney has openly credited his faith in Allah for his accomplishments. The boxer’s devotion to Islam is evident in various aspects of his life. It even extends to his Instagram handle which reflects both his religious affiliation and his expression of gratitude for his beliefs. In a recent discussion on the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer, Haney highlighted how Islam has provided him with guidance and instilled discipline. He said, “Being a Muslim, Islam has matured me. It’s given me discipline, all through life. It’s given me structure, it’s given me guidance, something to live for and rules to follow.” Well, Davis has decided to follow the same path as his rival.
Although both of them keep taking digs at each other on social media, it’s going to be interesting to see whether their relationship changes now that Davis changed his religion. The fans didn’t waste any time in making their thoughts known.
