Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Justin Bieber were friends once. The latter became a constant feature of the undefeated champion’s walk-ins in some of the biggest fights as their friendship grew. However, by 2017, the famous brotherhood between the two well-known celebrities had run its course after an alleged fallout. Fans came across an old video on Facebook yesterday. It dates back to when the boxing legend faced Conor McGregor, a fight that raked roughly $600 million. It was a momentous event. But Bieber reportedly voiced his support for McGregor. It was the boxing champion’s turn to pour out his feelings.

In September 2015, Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought the forty-ninth bout successfully. He subsequently retired. But two years later, he returned to face the biggest name in mixed martial arts, Conor McGregor, on August 27. He was speaking with TMZ when the host shared that Justin Bieber expressed doubts about the boxing champion defeating the UFC Lightweight champion. The host wanted to know whether the boxing champion considered it a dishonest act.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. replied, “Justin Bieber is at a point; he’s in a place right now, that he’s focused on church, he’s focused on his new team, he’s focused on the Lord, and the only thing I can do is give him the utmost respect. To each his own. I’m not here to be negative and talk bad about anyone…” The world champion clarified that his differences were not with a ‘pop star’ but with Conor McGregor.

He continued, “I love Justin Bieber, and I’am going to always wish him nothing but the best.” The TMZ host highlighted that many followers considered Mayweather Jr. too generous with his friends. He asked whether the undefeated champion was still friends with the singer. The latter replied matter-of-factly that his way of life would barely undergo any changes.

Mayweather Jr. explained that he had lived wealthy for the last twenty-odd years. Addressing a young Gervonta Davis sitting by his side, he shared how he tries to influence and motivate young and upcoming boxers to leave their harsh and dangerous lives in the hood.

A few days ago, another Facebook post featuring pictures of the duo saw many fans join in with comments. According to a September 2017 article in Billboard, before the Mayweather Jr.-McGregor fight, Justin Bieber reportedly unfollowed the boxing legend from his Instagram and later shared that he foresaw the former going down in the ring. The act seemingly enraged Mayweather Jr., who, per several accounts, called the Canadian singer a ‘traitor.’ When the latter was going through a rough patch, the former stood by him like a rock.
