Pacquiao versus Mayweather isn’t over. After Naoya Inoue‘s latest performance against Stephen Fulton at Super Bantamweight, Manny Pacquiao declared that he would train ‘Monster’ if the Japanese considered “moving up in weight divisions“. On the other hand, Floyd Mayweather, who beat Pacquiao at Welterweight in 2015, recently announced that he was in favor of seeing Gervonta Davis against Naoya Inoue at a catchweight.
Provided Inoue took Pacquiao’s assistance and accepted Mayweather’s offer, the boxing world could potentially witness a different kind of Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather.

‘Tank’ made his professional debut at Featherweight. Gradually, he moved up to Super Featherweight and then Lightweight. While Gervonta Davis is currently a champion at 135, Naoya Inoue is the unified champion at 122. Given Inoue makes it to Featherweight, there would still be a gap of 9 lbs between him and ‘Tank’ Davis. Anyway, Manny Pacquiao likes Inoue and claims to have taught him in Japan. “I like Naoya. Before he became [multi-weight champion] I teach him in Japan. Naoya, he’s thinking of moving up in weight divisions. I hope I can teach him and supervise his workout and training. I want to train him and supervise his training if he wants to move up to higher-weight divisions,” Pacquiao told Little Giant Boxing.

In addition, Pacquiao was impressed by Inoue’s “fantastic” performance against Fulton. While Pacquiao wishes to train Inoue, Mayweather recently said, “I would like to see him [Inoue] fight Gervonta at a catchweight. That’d be a hell of a fight.” We’ll have to wait to see which call Inoue answers first.

The former Senator of the Philippines seems really keen on mentoring ‘The Monster’ and would be an ideal guide for someone who is considering moving to higher-weight divisions. ‘PacMan’ is a self-taught boxer who grew up watching videos of Mike Tyson while he was in his prime. Pacquiao was deeply inspired by ‘Iron Mike’ and his grit. This propelled him to become one of the greatest fighters ever and retire with 62 wins.
