Amanda Serrano and Danila Ramos recently made history in female boxing by fighting in twelve three-minute rounds. However, Claressa Shields had previously advocated for the same for female boxing, but to no avail. While Serrano received loads of praise for the historic move, Claressa’s prior efforts went unrecognized. This gave birth to a feud on X (formerly Twitter) between Claressa and a sports media company. Who is this sports media company? They are none other than BAVAFA Sports, founded by Jake Paul’s promoter, Nakisa Bidarian.

Before the current feud between BAVAFA Sports and Shields, these two had feuded with each other when BAVAFA questioned if Shields would fight in Jake Paul’s undercard. However, this time, the altercation between them is about a whole different reason. Recently, BAVAFA claimed they wanted to include Shields as one of the top female boxers in the world. However, they claimed Shields refused because she did not want to be part of the group. When Shields came across the tweet, she did not hold back.

Responding to BAVAFA’s bold statement on X, Shields immediately hit back with some strong words and stronger emotions. She claimed the sports media company was lying because she sent a quote to his team regarding the same. Claressa went as far as to suggest that BAVAFA doesn’t want to work with her. “You are a liar. I literally sent a quote to my team. Y’all don’t F with me,” wrote Shields.

Shields still wasn’t done! She proceeded to label the sports media company as a hater. Meanwhile, she justified by asserting she has been an advocate for three-minute rounds for the longest time. “Y’all some haters, and I’ve literally been an advocate for 3 min rds FOR YEARS. So, play with someone else,” Shields wrote. However, Shields claimed she wasn’t bothered by BAVAFA’s decision to not include her because her fans are aware of the reality.

Shields is an undefeated fighter in boxing, but that’s not the case in MMA, as she holds a 1-1 record. Back in 2021, Shields appeared in the MMA scene by signing with PFL. However, after facing her first loss, she disappeared from the scene. According to an article from ESPN, Shields will make her return to MMA in 2024.
