A groundbreaking moment unfolded in the world of boxing as Amanda Serrano not only successfully defended her title against Danila Ramos through a unanimous decision, but also played a pivotal role in rewriting history. Since 2007, women’s boxing matches, including world title fights, were limited to 10 rounds of 2 minutes each, unlike the 12 rounds of 3 minutes in male fights—a disparity that didn’t sit well with the determined 35-year-old champion. So, she decided to change it.

The champion has received support from many prominent figures, some of whom include Laila Ali, Christy Martin, Holly Holm, and Jake Paul among others. Fans did not stay behind in expressing their appreciation.

“Congrats, champ another outstanding performance! You are the real deal! Woman bringing the boxing sport forward!!!” wished another who was proud of what Serrano had done for women’s boxing.

“It was awesome. “Women can’t do 12×3?” Pfft. You could have done 15×3!” said another fan who did not have a speck of doubt on the duo’s ability to pull a 15-round bout lasting 3 minutes each.

“Really enjoyed the 12 rounder. Respect to you and your opponent tonight. You made it an entertaining fight. I want to see 12×3 rounds stay for championship women’s boxing. Salute to you starting hopefully a new trend,” stated another fan saluting the fighter for having taken women’s boxing to the next level. He hoped that the rest follow on the newly created path as well.

Serrano and Ramos showcased their skill and determination, proving their ability on par with male fighters. However, Ramos lacked the strength to deter Serrano’s relentless attacks. From the early rounds, Ramos experienced swelling around her eyes, worsening as Serrano intensified her assault in the 4th. Despite the damage, Ramos continued to engage, attempting various tactics to counter Serrano’s dominance.

Throughout the fight, Ramos displayed commendable bravery, refusing to hold or smother the action. Although the judges’ unanimous 120-108 scores favored Serrano, the fight was more compelling than the numbers indicate. The venue, Caribe Royale in Orlando, echoed with chants of “Amanda! Amanda!” as Puerto Rican flags adorned every seat. The two fighters hugged it out with bright smiles on their faces, knowing they had achieved what others did not even imagine.
