A win against Jermell Charlo could pave the way for Canelo Alvarez to face Terence Crawford, a matchup that intrigues the Nebraskan based on recent discussions. In theory, a bout between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is highly appealing. However, there is a noticeable absence of eagerness on Alvarez’s part to go up against the Southpaw from Omaha.
Furthermore, ‘Cinnamon’ believes that Bud has fought nothing significant except for a fight against Errol Spence Jr. On the other hand, Crawford branded him as “delusional” for thinking so. Now, amid the process of the fight’s manifestation, a blatant claim has rung the boxing arena. This comes from none other than Anthony Yarde’s trainer, Tunde Ajayi. In his regard, Terence Crawford has what it takes to defeat Alvarez. But, what are those skills that’ll help him win? Read to find out!

Why does Yorde’s trainer think Terence Crawford can defeat ‘Cinnamon’?
Ajayi believes that Crawford’s power, intelligence, and skills make him a tough opponent for anyone with a similar style. He emphasizes that Crawford’s style is key to his success. Ajayi doesn’t think Terence would fare as well against the two-time WBC super middleweight champion, David Benavidez. The reason is that he throws an extremely high number of punches in a single round. This different style would challenge Crawford. However, Ajayi thinks Crawford has the ability to defeat Canelo because Canelo is a masterful boxer. Moreover, he has a firm belief that Bud can defeat anyone.
As he said, “Crawford with that domination, with that power, with that IQ, with that skill set, gonna be a problem for anyone with that style. Let me just reiterate it, with that style. I wouldn’t say Crawford would be as successful with someone like a Benavidez, yeah, because Benavidez throws 19 million punches in one round, and that style alone would cause Crawford different problems. But Canelo, because he’s a full, full masterful boxer, I think Crawford can beat Canelo. Crawford can beat anyone.”
Moreover, in recent news, Terence’s trainer has criticized Alvarez’s boxing merit.
Terence Crawford’s coach slams Canelo Alvarez’s resume
Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez are both undisputed champions. Where Bud dominates the welterweight division, Alvarez rules the super-middleweight class. On July 29, Crawford beat Errol Spence Jr. impressively. He knocked down Spence Jr. three times and won by a ninth-round TKO. Therefore, this win makes Crawford eager for a superfight with Alvarez.

However, recently, Bernie Davis, Crawford’s coach, openly criticized Alvarez’s career. In a YouTube interview with Tha Boxing Voice, Davis says Alvarez’s only great win is against Gennady Golovkin or GGG. Davis gives some credit to Alvarez for beating Austin Trout but notes that Miguel Cotto was past his prime when Alvarez fought him. Davis praises Crawford’s resume for its quality opponents.
Canelo Alvarez’s potential fight with Terence Crawford generates buzz but lacks Alvarez’s enthusiasm. Crawford’s trainer, Bernie Davis, questions Alvarez’s career merits. Anthony Yarde’s trainer, Tunde Ajayi, believes Crawford has the skills to beat Alvarez. Both fighters dominate their respective weight classes, but differing opinions fuel the debate over who would win in a matchup.
