Despite his immense talent and winnability, the Cincinnati-born boxer has, time and again, displayed a propensity for landing himself in hot water. The unanimous victory over Bill Hutchinson at the beginning of the month hence reassured many a fan that Adrien Broner is finally letting off all that steam that held him back. But as it stands out, his latest appearance at a podcast raises a few questions, which might cast aside all the hopes of Broner’s return as a competent boxer. Nevertheless, a few voices joined in slamming the show.

Over a two-year wait, fans’ delight knew no bounds as Adrien Broner returned to the ring. The win over Bill Hutchinson couldn’t have been more emphatic. It was on February 20, 2021, that Broner last fought. To all intents and purposes, even that match came nearly two years after Manny Pacquiao packed him on January 19, 2019. In the meantime, his relationship with PBC ended as he signed up with BLK Prime last year. But the deal proved short-lived as Broner left the promotions this year and eventually landed at Don King‘s stable.

But he still remembers the years spent with PBC, especially Al Haymon. At least, that is what viewers saw when he appeared on ‘The Danza Project.’ It was easy to make out that the multi-division champion could have been in a better disposition. When the host asked whether Broner has anyone to take care of him, ‘About Billions,’ replied, “Yeah, I was just an idiot. I did damn…ah, still got him. I can’t even talk about it, still got him.

When one of the hosts tried to add his point, Broner, cutting him off, said, “That ain’t about nothing about what you talking about…still got him….I call him every day, ah, every day. I talk to Al Haymon every day!…Yeah, he’s a billion-dollar n***a…I talk to that n***a every day. Look, I’am drunk, I’am sorry… ” Adrien Broner’s drinking problem is well known. So much so that it even landed him on the wrong side of the law.

The video – “https://youtu.be/slDyvVafi80,” now seems to have been removed from YouTube.

Big names in aid of Broner

Acknowledging the issue, the boxer mentioned coming clean about the habit during an interview with DAZN Boxing. It baffled many into questioning the show calling Broner and interviewing him when he was high as a kite. Lambasting the podcast Errol Spence Jr. said whoever accompanied Broner and let him speak in such a poor state should be ashamed of himself.

Soon promoter Lou DiBella also joined. Questioning the very purpose of the show, he mentioned how everyone in the boxing world knew about Adrien Broner’s troubles. The former champion himself admitted to battling those demons.
