As Floyd Mayweather Jr. entered the ring for his exhibition fight against John Gotti III in the early days of June, fans rejoiced to see the legend show off his boxing prowess. However, the excitement was unfortunately disrupted when the fight did not go as planned. Much to everyone’s disappointment, the fight was waved off due to the foul verbal jousting between fighters. Thereafter, a massive brawl ensued.

The bout will now be remembered as one of the most chaotic nights in contemporary boxing history. It tarnished both Mayweather’s and  Gotti’s reputations. June 12th, 2023 will never be remembered for any good reasons. Because there are none. 

Did Floyd Mayweather and Gotti III have bad blood?

In an interview with Vlad TV, rapper Boskoe 100 was recently asked to comment on the brawl that broke out in the boxing arena where the exhibition match between “Money’ Mayweather and Gotti III, grandson of infamous crime boss John Gotti, was underway. The rapper pointed out that he felt there was some unresolved animosity between the two. 

Boskoe added, “I just dont understand where that animosity comes from. Where was all the animosity? Cause if you watch the fight you could see it was like it was a lot of animosity.”

He further spoke about how the two boxers took verbal jabs against each other during the entire episode. It is not hard to identify there was possibly some bad blood between the two given the abuses they hurled at each other. 

What actually happened that night?

Initially, the fight was supposed to take its course without any disruptions. There were no judges assigned to the 8-round contest. But spectators felt some tension brewing even before the bell rang to announce the first round. Mayweather’s security was seen clearing crowds around Gott’s corner. This however did not stop Mayweather from dominating the fight. 

 

However, Floyd was stepping into hostile territory as the Florida Arena was packed to the rafters with Gotti’s supporters. Both the contenders were given constant warnings by the referee regarding the abusive verbal jabs traded between them. but the two paid no heed.

As the contest entered its sixth round, referee, Kenny Bayless was forced to call off the matchup. This prompted Gotti to charge at Mayweather. Supporters of both the fighters, enraged at this point, took to the ring and a brawl ensued.

Afterward, the cops intervened, and both fighters were escorted out of the ring to their respective camps. Ever since then, both boxers have not been shy to express their  hatred for each other.
