While Ryan Garcia is stranded without an opponent, his quest to locate one has left Rolly Romero at odds with Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. Their feud overflowed on X a while back, following which Teofimo Lopez came to Oscar’s rescue, defending him while dissing the WBA super lightweight champion. However, now Romero has come out with a response to Lopez’s actions on X.
A fight between Garcia and Romero fell apart recently, as Oscar claimed Romero had priced himself out. However, Romero accused Oscar of going behind his back to secure a fight with Isaac Cruz. So, he made some derogatory comments about Oscar, which prompted Lopez to share an old sparring clip with Romero, calling him a “fake champion.” Meanwhile, during an interview with ES News today, Elie Seckbach probed Romero about Lopez’s actions. Here’s what he said!

Responding to Seckbach, Romero suggested, “That’s just really out of Tefimo’s character. I thought me and [Lopez] were on good terms. I thought he was my little brother and stuff.” Romero added that Lopez is going through bad times because he knows him better than anyone else. He knows everything about Lopez and asserted he has been there for Lopez.
Turning to the clip Lopez shared of the pair sparring, Romero claimed, “I was clearly out of shape… before I turned pro. That was the week before he turned pro, right? Straight out of the Olympics, so I don’t really have much of an opinion on that.” When Seckbach highlighted that Lopez might have gotten offended because he thought Romero was disrespecting the boxing legend, Romero stated, “Then he must be sucking Oscar’s ****, I don’t know.”
He also implied that there might be a relationship between Lopez and Oscar that people don’t know about. While Romero hints at an unknown relationship between Oscar and Lopez, here’s what Oscar said about Lopez defending him against Romero.
Oscar De La Hoya responds to Teofimo Lopez
Originally, Rolly Romero had called Oscar a “conman” and mocked him with a “fishnet stocking” remark, referring to De La Hoya’s old leaked pictures in drag costume. So, after Lopez shared the sparring clip, defending Oscar, the head of Golden Boy Promotions turned to X on January 24, thanking Lopez for his support.
Thanks @TeofimoLopez it’s all good brother. You have these young kids who have no idea what a legend is or how to be one. At the end of the day I’ll be around boxing till I die and be the first ever fighter and promoter in the HOF
