Apart from his impeccable boxing skills, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez also aces the aesthetic game. In an update to his life narrative, he got his face inked. While most would be impressed with the commitment he’s shown in getting such a permanent fixture, most on social media remained underwhelmed with how it looked.
In mid-December last year, ‘Bam’ Rodriguez defeated his Londoner counterpart, Sunny Edwards, in the 9th round of their thrilling fight. After successfully defending his WBO Flyweight title and claiming Edwards’ IBF title that night, he retained his undefeated status, bringing his record to an impressive 19-0. Since then, all everyone around can speak about is his impressive boxing skills and his future as one of the best. However, in his latest social media post, he gave fans another something to speak about.

Bam, in a vibrant and inviting Instagram setting, stood before a mirror. His body angled just right, revealing the tattoo gracing the upper edge of his face. Dressed in a white oversized t-shirt, black flare pants, and chunky loafers, the Southpaw redefined style. The picture was part of a carousel that featured a close-up image of his shiny loafers, followed by a picture of his girlfriend, Rebecca.

But the picture that branched off his attempt to seek validation failed to do so. While the comments on his post were switched off by Texan-flyweight, other platforms on social media emerged with the images in an uproar, discussing what the tattoo meant. The fighter has not written about the tattoo, nor has he hinted at any significance it might hold for him. However, that did not stop fans and boxing insiders from breaking down its meaning.
What was he thinking?
Boxing Kingdom posted a zoomed-in screengrab of Bam’s new tattoo. In a very brazen assumption that is actually not true, the account wrote, “Bam Rodriguez becomes the first professional boxer to get a face tattoo, since Mike Tyson!” Fans were quick to debunk this assumption by the Boxing Kingdom.
One fan expressed how impossible it is for Bam to be the only fighter apart from Mike Tyson to get a face tattoo. Conor Benn, in 2021, got a tattoo right next to his earlobe in a touching tribute to his son. Not to forget, the man of the hour, Gervonta Davis, who has his name ‘Gervonta’ tatted above his eye.

Another fan, still unsure what the tattoo was, asked if it was a surfboard given the shape of it.
Is it a surfboard

Another user, sarcasm and shade-loaded, questioned the choice of the tattoo and its placement, mentioning it as the reason why boxers have no brain cells.
Proof boxers kill brain cells ….

Another user questioned the point of even getting a tattoo in that particular place.
What happen to just growing out your sideburns ?

Then came a fan, with loud concurrence, not approving of the tattoo at all.
