After his controversial win against Vasyl Lomachenko, the undisputed-Lightweight champion Devin Haney sent Shakur Stevenson a 75/25-split offer for a potential fight. However, Stevenson, who claimed he is worth more than 25%, turned down the offer by Haney. In addition, he claimed that Haney was being unrealistic. “Nah I’m not gone take 25% but u knew that already Lil bruh be realistic,” announced Shakur Stevenson in public.
In his reply to a tweet, Shakur Stevenson claimed that even though he was not on the A-side, he understood his worth “and 25% ain’t it“. Recently, promoter Bob Arum confirmed that Haney’s offer did not have “any real substance behind” it. In Arum’s opinion, Haney was not genuinely interested in facing Shakur Stevenson in the ring. According to Bob Arum, it is better for Haney if he moves up to 140. In his opinion, if Devin Haney decides to fight Shakur Stevenson at 135, he would undoubtedly be in a fix. “So, Haney is better off fighting at 140 where his body is calling for because it’s more and more difficult for him to make the 135,” concluded Arum saying. It is worth mentioning that following Haney’s controversial win against Lomachenko, a number of fans believe that Stevenson would defeat ‘The Dream’ inside the boxing ring.
