Only two weeks ago, when Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk was around the corner, ‘The Gypsy King’ ended up suffering a cut during a sparring session. As a result, the fight was postponed to the 18th of May and Tyson apologized to everyone including his own team. On the other hand, team Usyk raised questions about Fury’s professionalism and honesty.

However, WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman feels the unprecedented cut only adds to the magnitude of the event. In his latest interview with Boxing Social, Sulaiman announced Fury vs. Usyk was now even bigger. Additionally, he reacted to Fury’s altercation with Usyk’s manager.

Had Tyson Fury not awfully cut himself in sparring, the world would have witnessed ‘The Gypsy King’ vs. Oleksandr Usyk today, February 17th. On that note, the WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman was asked whether or not the postponement of Fury vs. Usyk frustrated him. In his reply to Boxing Social, Sulaiman, who also revealed Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez were negotiating for a potential bout this year, said, “It’s boxing. It happens.”

I’m sure it’s going to be a bigger fight even now,” Sulaiman added. “The frustration that both had to endure. So much sacrifice, so much patience, so much work put into it. And then one cut and everything is delayed,” Sulaiman continued.

However, Sulaiman assured that Fury and Usyk were back in the gym. Additionally, he mentioned speaking to Fury lately. “He’s fine. He’s ready to continue. It’s going to be an unbelievable, memorable, one of the greatest events in the history of boxing on May 18th,” said Mauricio Sulaiman. Along these lines, he reacted to Usyk’s manager insulting the Furys.

Sulaiman reacts to Egis Klimas’ altercation with Fury

After Fury revealed his cut, Egis Klimas, Usyk’s manager questioned Fury’s sincerity and courage. According to Klimas, Paris Fury deliberately hit Tyson with a frying pan so he could avoid the fight. In addition, Klimas called Paris Fury a “b**ch“. As a result, Tyson threatened to take Klimas’ teeth out. Reacting to this altercation between Egis and Fury, Sulaiman said, “It’s only the heated state of mind. You have to understand there’s so much emotion. I mean this is a fight that has not taken place in 25 years,” said Sulaiman.
