The boxing world caught hold of three pioneers in one single frame. It includes the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman alongside Roberto Duran, and Mike Tyson. Duran is widely regarded as a legend—not just by fans but also by other boxers. One of them happens to be none other than the former two-time heavyweight champion, ‘Iron Mike’.

Duran had made his entry in the sport almost 15 years before Tyson did. However, for the majority of Tyson’s career, the former multi-weight champion was an active fighter. Decades after his retirement, Tyson got to see one of his favorite boxers and also managed to photo-bomb a moment between Duran and Sulaiman.

Sulaiman had a chance to meet up with the retired legend in Uzbekistan recently on the sidelines of a convention organized by the WBC. In a video posted by him on his Twitter account, Sulaiman, while having supper, pulls out his phone and starts recording himself with Duran. However, in the middle of the clip, out of nowhere, guess who shows up? ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’. Yes, that is right, Mike Tyson. Tyson enters the video and places himself in the video between the two of them.

The president of the WBC, while sharing the video, wrote in the captions, “This is a great moment as I am with Robert Durán and my dear Mike Tyson photo bombs ! Great memories from Uzbekistan ”

To see such notable personalities, hailing from the sport together, is not a usual sight. Their impact and legacy are etched in stone. For Mike, Duran holds a special place among all the fighters that inspired him. So much so that when Tyson had a chance to meet the man in Saudi Arabia, he took his kids with him.

Mike Tyson on Duran being his inspiration

Mike Tyson had the opportunity to meet his “inspiration” before the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou in Riyadh. He seized the opportunity to make the former champion meet his kids and had a message for him, “Last night’s night before fight gala. Wanted my kids to meet my favorite fighter, Roberto Duran. His style inspired me the most,” noted Tyson in an Instagram story.
