Well, according to some recent unfolds, it seems like Canelo Alvarez will fight David Benavidez before he fights against Dmitry Bivol. Alvarez has signed an amazing deal with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). According to boxeodecolombia.com, Alvarez is looking to fight top contenders in the division, like Demetrius Andrade, David Morrell, and David Benavidez. Well currently he’s obviously starting off with Jermell Charlo  although for the past year, the rematch with Bivol was the only thing that Alvarez ever talked about, after the refusal from Bivol’s team.

The Russian titlist laughed at the mundane attempts of Alvarez’s team for their second bout. Furthermore, he claimed, “It’s funny. He just wants to find some excuses. He just doesn’t want it.” Even his manager, Vadim Kornilov, has come forward saying that Alvarez never wanted to fight Bivol. And now for the good, The WBA Super Light Heavyweight champion has decided to move on from the ‘Cinnamon’ as well.

In the recent upload of Boxing Social on Twitter, Dmitry Bivol can be seen working a heavy bag. The Russian boxer is a 21 and 0 boxer, with 11 knockouts. According to Boxrec, he’s currently the number 1 active fighter in the division. So, his next opponent needs to amp up his caliber and simultaneously should be challenging enough to fill the shoes of the P4P king, Canelo Alvarez.

In the video, Bivol can be seen working his left hits, hitting the bag with a left hook swiftly after a couple of jabs. Bivol is known for his strong right punches, so it’s great to see him work on those slick lefts, they’ll surely come in handy in the upcoming matches. Well, he finally feels free, as he was a bit stuck regarding his rematch with Alvarez.

Now plenty of options are open for him, although Eddie Hearn has bigger plans set for the fighter. He wants Bivol to fight someone challenging who can help cement his legacy even further.

Eddie Hearn on Bivol’s next opponent

Eddie Hearn offered Joshua Buatsi, $1.2 million to square off against Dmitry Bivol. But he refused as he didn’t think he was ready to take him on yet. However, Hearn is adamant about getting Bivol a good opponent. First, Callum Smith will be challenging Artur Beterbiev for his three Light Heavyweight belts, and then Bivol is the next contender in Hearn’s mind.

He told iFL TV, “We’re going through opponents right now for him. I want a good man, I want someone in the top 15 in the world if we fan. I think it’s important that he makes a statement.” Well if Hearn really wants to make an impact with Bivol it’s important for him to get a guy who’s known in England as well as the United States. One such prospect could be Joe Smith Jr, even though he’s just faced a loss in his last fight but he has a decent popularity in both countries.
