Given his life, Mike Tyson has reached the stage, as far as boxing is concerned, where any boxer, experienced or inexperienced, would kill to receive a few pieces of his advice. Unlike many contemporaries, the youngest Heavyweight champion in history never took to full-time training. However, the generous man that he is, ‘Iron’ Mike, doesn’t seem to have ceased supporting budding fighters or those who need his help. At least, that’s what a resurfaced video clip shows.
‘The Mayweather Channel’ released it on YouTube early today. Nearly two-and-a-half-minute-long, the footage shows Mike Tyson relaxing at the entrance of a boxing gym on his ranch. It seems like it came roughly two years ago. Nevertheless, the interesting aspect of the footage remains the presence of two-foreign boxers sweating it out, training under the watchful eyes of veteran trainers, one of them being Floyd Mayweather Jr.‘s uncle, former world champion, and now ace trainer Jeff Mayweather.

Blast from the Past: a glimpse of the Gym at Mike Tyson Ranch
Ghanian-Swedish, three-weight world champion Badou Jack appears, practicing on the pads with his trainer. In the background, Tyson is visible deep in conversation with another person. The camera then moves over to the British YouTuber, internet celebrity, and boxer, Viddal Riley, as he moves around a punching bag, dexterously, throwing one punch after the other in a gradual sequence. Jeff Mayweather stood nearby, closely watching.
The video was taken when Badou Jack no longer held any world titles. In 2019, he lost twice in his quest to claim the Light heavyweight title. ‘The Ripper,’ however, commenced on a five-match winning streak and became a world champion again on February 26. In one of the undercard bouts of Jake Paul versus Tommy Fury fight, Jack met Congolese-South African Ilunga Makabu and won through technical knockout during the twelfth round. Incidentally, Mike Tyson walked Badou Jack to the ring.

If the stars align, then thirty-nine-year-old Badou Jack might as well fight ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. On the other hand, Riley remains defeated. The twenty-five-year-old Londoner used to train KSI during his amateur days. Later, he switched to professional boxing in 2018 and joined Jeff Mayweather and Amer Abdallah‘s stable. Many fans who might remember Mike Tyson in his prime would have had a pleasant surprise seeing him chilling out, lounging at his place.
