On the 15th of July, the current undisputed super featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner will square off against Christina Linardatou for a rematch in Detroit. In Eddie Hearn’s opinion, it is a “star match-up” that is going to be “a classic“. At the final press conference, while Hearn called Linardatou “strong and aggressive“, he branded Baumgardner as a “powerful” and “explosive” fighter inside the ring. Like Eddie Hearn, boxing fans around the world are keen on watching the duo share the ring.

Ahead of the anticipated bout, the current undisputed middleweight champion of the world, Claressa Shields took to Twitter and showed Baumgardner love. ‘The Bomb’ is a resident of Detroit and hence the upcoming bout would be her homecoming. As Baumgardner enters the 16th professional fight of her career, here is what Shields said.

Alycia Baumgardner is currently 14-1-0. On the other hand, Christina Linardatou is 14-2-0 in professional boxing. While Alycia Baumgardner fought Elhem Mekhaled in her last fight and clinched a UD win, Linardatou went up against Aleksandra Vujovic and defeated the same via UD. As Baumgardner inches closer to her first professional fight in Detroit, Shields took to Twitter and announced, “Get Her @alyciambaum! Your homecoming will be special!”

On the 15th of July, Baumgardner will have the opportunity to avenge her loss against Linardatou. While Shields encouraged her in public, at the press conference, Linardatou reminded ‘The Bomb’ that she was “hanging” in her last fight.

According to Linardatou, Baumgardner was “hanging” and running around in their previous fight. “I remember she is strong. I also remember that in the last round, she was always hanging. The first round she worked, she was strong enough, [but] Alycia the last round she was always hanging.” While Baumgardner ran, Linardatou claimed she hunted throughout the fight. “I was all the time hunting. For me, it was a war like always like all the fights,” she added.

In her reply to Linardatou, Baumgardner, hungry for destruction, said, “If you know anything about a hunter you have to k**l your prey. I’m gonna make sure that the bow is stroked all the way through her heart so she can’t get up anymore after that.” As per her statements, Baumgardner is confident about avenging her loss against Linardatou.
