The Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury fight will unfold on 28 October in front of thousands in the stadium and millions worldwide. While Fury is a world heavyweight champion, it’s the first boxing match for Ngannou. It’s also the reason most boxing fans have chucked up the upcoming bout in Fury’s favor from the onset. However, Ngannou may prove to be smarter than other professional boxers who have faced Fury.
Fury’s physique has been the focus of criticism and amusement among fans and rivals. But that has never affected Fury or his performance in the ring. He weighed 277 lbs in the biggest fight of his career against Deontay Wilder and maintained a similar weight through the trilogy. Everyone knows what happened against Wilder. So, when Tyson decided to go shirtless during his face-to-face with Francis Ngannou, it failed to trick the former MMA Heavyweight champion into thinking Fury would not perform in the ring.

In a recent video, Top Rank Boxing gave a glimpse into Francis Ngannou’s media day training. During the event, a reporter asked Francis about his thoughts on Fury’s physique, referring to Fury as “A little soft.” However, Francis had prepared for the question; he even said the same thing while appearing in Joe Rogan’s podcast. “It looks like, but it’s not! He tricks people with it,” Francis told the reporter.
Later in the video, Francis expressed his approach and training for the much-anticipated fight in October. “I’m not training with an MMA mentality….I am going out there to box and training as a boxer,” said Francis while speaking to the reporters. He further urged everyone there to look at him as a boxer rather than an MMA fighter. He said, “I hope you guys to see me as a boxer.”
An even bigger fight for Fury
While the Fury and Ngannou clash is of epic proportions, the fact of the matter is there are no titles on the line. So, regardless of the outcome of the fight, Fury’s titles will remain his. However, the same is not true for his next fight against an opponent that the boxing world has been waiting for.
