Initially, Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk was supposed to take place on February 17 this year. However, on February 2nd, Tyson Fury and Queensberry Promotions jointly released an official statement to inform the public that Fury sustained a “freak cut” above his right during a sparring session. And since the wound required “significant stitching,” it was informed that the fight was being postponed.
At this, while Fury apologized to everyone, team Usyk questioned the former’s professionalism. In fact, in an absurd statement, Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas alleged that Fury’s wife Paris Fury deliberately hit her husband with a pan to cut him open. Anyway, soon the fight had a new date. On that note, in his latest interview with The Stomping Ground, Fury updated the boxing world about his eye.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Tyson Fury informed that he was feeling good. And since he had already camped for three months before the Usyk fight was postponed, ‘The Gypsy King’ was glad he was “in good shape“. As per Fury, the WBC Heavyweight champion has had sufficient rest to heal his wound which required 11 stitches. Therefore, Fury looked forward to resuming his training soon.
“It’s been four weeks and a couple of days ago now. So, I’ve rested, recovered, and am ready to go back to camping next week,” said Tyson Fury. Along these lines, Fury mentioned that he initially feared the Usyk fight would be completely canceled. However, with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s support, the fight was successfully postponed to the 18th of May.
Speaking of which Fury added, “In the game, s**t happens. Worse of things happened, I’ve seen. It won’t be the first time and it won’t be the last time a fight’s been canceled with an injury.” “At first, I was a little bit pi**ed off because it didn’t look like it was going to happen. We didn’t have a date. But, as soon as we got the date two days later, it was fantastic. Yeah, everything’s good,” Tyson Fury concluded.

Fury won’t be bothered about the cut during Usyk fight
Well, it is not the first time that Tyson Fury suffered a cut in the ring. For a cut Fury sustained during the Otto Walin fight, the British boxer required 47 stitches! On the other hand, when Fury faced Francis Ngannou, the former UFC fighter left a cut on Fury’s left eye and forehead. Therefore, Fury is confident that the present cut will also heal before May 18th.

“It’s already healed now. The cut takes about eight weeks to heal. I have 15 weeks from cut to fight day. So, we have plenty of time. I’m not worried about the cut. If the cut opens in the fight, so what? I’ve had plenty of cuts before,” said ‘The Gypsy King’. With that said, what do you think of Fury’s attitude to his cut?
