In a triumphant comeback on Saturday night at the Toyota Arena in Houston, Texas, Ryan Garcia, under the guidance of his new trainer Derrick James, secured an impressive eighth-round knockout against Oscar Duarte. The victory marked Garcia’s first fight since his sole loss to Gervonta Davis in April this year. Despite Duarte’s pressure-fighting tactics, Garcia strategically reversed the momentum with a lightning-fast left hook to the temple. The impactful blow left Duarte unsteady, prompting Garcia to capitalize with a series of punches. He ultimately forced Duarte to take a knee.

Reflecting on his journey back to the ring, Garcia shared with DAZN, “I fought hard to find myself again and did a lot of soul-searching.” Throughout the match, Garcia showcased his quick hand speed, yet maintained a respectful acknowledgment of Duarte’s formidable power. Interestingly, as the scorecard of the fight came out, it showed Garcia’s utter dominance throughout the fight. Even without the knockout, it appears the fight would’ve been an easy victory for King Ry.
