Could Carl Froch and Tony Bellew, good friends and former sparring partners, be about to face each other in an exhibition bout? For good chunks of their illustrious careers, Bellew and Froch were huge names who both took part in memorable encounters with the pair also tasting world title glory at the highest level. However, Creed star Tony Bellew has now revealed a sort of discussion that may lead to him facing off against his friend and former super-middleweight champion.
Bellew, who even boxed on Froch’s undercard, walked away from the sport in 2018 but he has since teased a comeback many times. Froch went through boxing’s exit door four years earlier after defeating George Groves at Wembley, but he’s made it clear that he may return against YouTubers like Jake Paul or even an exhibition match. In response to Froch’s recent challenge, Bellew, the former WBC cruiserweight champion, has outlined his own terms for a potential fight.

Tony Bellew throws a jab – not in the ring, but at the possibility of a return. His message is clear: the right paycheck can lure him back. His fellow countryman, Carl Froch, the super middleweight champion turned boxing analyst, hears the challenge. These two titans of the sport, now seasoned veterans in their forties, have flirted with potential comebacks since last year.
Now, once again Froch threw a verbal uppercut, proposing a fight between them. Talking to Spinbet, Bellew replied, “Was Carl Froch really joking? You really never know with Carl. I don’t know what the price would be to get me in the ring to fight Carl in an exhibition, but it wouldn’t go the distance i can tell you that much. Never say never. It wouldn’t take place at Goodison Park, but carl wouldn’t see the final bell let me tell you that.”
Tony Bellew also mentioned money being a big motivating factor for him in such a matchup. He stated, “If somebody offers me the right price, then I’m sorry to say that I am fighting again.”

But where did this idea come from? Well, from the conversation both fighters had last year, when they sat down for a conversation on ‘Froch on Fighting’.

Bellew and Froch teased the fight themselves
A conversation back in September last year sparked a hilarious debate about a fight that never happened. Sparring partners turned rivals, Carl Froch and Tony Bellew acknowledged the epic clash they could have had during their primes. The question loomed: who would win in a catchweight bout? The ‘Creed’ co-star immediately threw in the towel, but Froch wasn’t buying it.
The conversation then took a turn for the lighthearted. Gym secrets spilled like spilled tea, with each fighter trying to one-up the other with stories of past sparring sessions. Was it a Froch right hand or a Bellew left hook that landed the cleaner blow? The details remained hazy, shrouded in the “what happens in the gym, stays in the gym” code. Amidst the playful bickering, Froch floated the idea of an exhibition bout.

He stated, “Yeh, it would be a barnstormer. Shall we do it as an exhibition?” Following their conversation, boxing fans have eagerly awaited an official announcement for this fight. Even Bellew seems receptive to a return to the ring. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
