People go to extreme lengths to prove their points, as did a user on X today! However, their attempt at exposing Devin Haney’s resume resulted in embarrassment for the user. The 25-year-old super lightweight champion is presently trying to secure a mega-fight against long-time rival Gervonta Davis, yet this isn’t the only fight Devin Haney has been coveting lately!

His last rendezvous onto the ring was against 34-year-old Regis Prograis, a matchup ‘The Dream’ Haney used to showcase his superior boxing skills. Since then, a fight against Ryan Garcia came to the brink of happening and fell apart. However, all his efforts to make glorious fights weren’t of any use to a user on X today, who tried to throw shade at the undefeated boxer.

In their attempt to prove Haney just fights boxers who are past their prime, the user shared a graphic that revealed the ages of the last seven opponents Haney has faced. It included Regis Prograis – 34, Vasyl Lomachenko – 35, George Kambosos Jr. – 31, Joseph Diaz -32, Jorge Linares – 38, and Yuriorkis Gamboa – 42. However, the user made a critical mistake with those numbers!

Instead of showing the age when they fought Haney, it showed their current age. In actuality–leaving Prograis and Lomachenko, Haney fought Kambosos Jr. when the latter was 28. Haney fought Diaz when he was 28, he fought Linares when he was 35, and he fought Gamboa when the latter was 38. What’s more, the mistake couldn’t evade the boxing fans’ eyes as they turned on the user.

Small mistake–big backlash

As the post started circulating, people started retweeting and commenting on the blunder while defending Haney and his resume.  One user came straight to the point, highlighting the mistake with age. It’s worth mentioning that all seven fighters held impressive records and are revered as some of the best in the division to date.

Another user revealed the correct ages of Haney’s opponents when they fought him while condemning the user who shared the graphic.

Someone else pointed out that Davis and Subriel Matías, who are of the same age as Haney, would have been on the same list if they had accepted a fight against Haney. The user went as far as to claim Haney has a far better resume than Davis.

The next user presented an interesting example of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Kell Brook (4-year age difference), claiming before the fight, everyone thought Spence took on more than he could handle. But when Spence won the fight, everyone said Brook was a retired fighter, fighting for a paycheck.
