Mike Tyson is remembered for his iconic knockout performances, whenever his legacy is a matter of discussion. However, there is one fight that has continued to mar the reputation of ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’. It’s none other than his battle against Evander Holyfield that took place 27 years ago. Before this, Holyfield had already beaten the Youngest Heavyweight champion and even grabbed his WBA title. So in 1997, the gladiators met again. But after the 3rd round, Tyson was disqualified by the referee, for biting Holyfield’s ears.
This was unexpected, and Tyson lost both fights to ‘The Real Deal’. He was even penalized $3 million for the heinous act. But after so many years, both fighters seemed to have buried the past and started afresh. Tyson and Holyfield are business partners making money off their infamous incident. Recently, the CEO of Tyson 2.0 and Carma HoldCo, talked about this unexpected collaboration and how it came about in an EssentiallySports Exclusive interview. Adam Wilks spoke on ES FanCast with our Host Noah Lack.

Back in November 2022, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield launched a collaborative cannabis-infused chew product, ‘Holy Ears’ as an homage to their ‘Bite Fight’. During that time, the rivalry between the two fighters was quite intense, so much so, that many were afraid to let them be in the same room. However, Adam Wilks managed to break that barrier, as Tyson’s wife, Lakiha Spicer, came up with a phenomenal idea of taking the next step forward.
In the conversation with EssentiallySports, Wilks took the fans through the process of this bizarre partnership. He said, “The idea actually came from Mike’s wife, Kiki. Mike Tyson’s wife Kiki approached Chad and myself and was like, ‘Hey we got this great idea we’ve been sitting on it for a while.’ We want to make a gummy ear out of the Holyfield fight. I was like that’s genius.”
Then within a week, Wilks stated how they started working on the product. He continued, “When we approached Holyfield, he loved the idea, and thought it’d be great, so he came in on the partnership on a collab on the Holy Ears. We had already done the Mike Bites, Holy Ears was the Christmas Special. And it was one of them, we had Holyfield come out, brought him to Vegas, we did a little tour, we did a champ show, we had a big party with him.”
Joining Tyson 2.0, money was not the main aim for Holyfield, and wanted to deliver the best products to his fans. Additionally, he had a definite cause in his mind.

The Carma HoldCo manages the Tyson 2.0, alongside other celebrity cannabis businesses, like that of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. The 4-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield was the third celebrity partner of the Carma Family. However, Holyfield did not join this route of business for money, instead, he wanted to share the remedy with the world that he’s been using for all these years.
He said, “That night changed both of our lives. Back then, we didn’t realize that even as power athletes, we were also in a lot of pain. Now, nearly 20 years later, we have the opportunity to share the medicine we really needed throughout our careers.” Furthermore, he continued, “I’m honored to join the Carma family and partner with Mike and the TYSON 2.0 team to launch Holy Ears.”
