There is no end in sight for the feud between Ryan Garcia and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. And now, Oscar’s favorite, Floyd Schofield, has pitched in with his two cents. The update comes after a fight between ‘King Ry’ and Devin Haney fell apart, the former choosing to fight Rolly Romero instead. However, even that fight was not in the cards.

Not so long ago, the Golden Boy Promotions’ top brass revealed Romero prized himself out. Meanwhile, he also introduced a potential opponent for Garcia, Jose Ramirez. However, soon after, the Victorville native announced he was not interested in facing the former champion on social media. In light of the ongoing feud between Garcia and Oscar, Fight Hype probed ‘Kid-Austin’ today about his thoughts on the situation.

Speaking to Kevin Garcia, the Jersey City resident blamed Garcia for being too picky in response. “I feel like everybody’s just too picky. They [are] being Divas at this point,” said Schofield. He went on to suggest that boxing isn’t what it used to be, where boxers just wanted to get in the ring and create a legacy. Instead, boxers today – want to secure the most amount of money. “You want the money so bad – the money gonna come when you put your all into boxing,” said Schofield.

Further emphasizing his point, Schofield claimed boxers would start making good money when they face the top guys. However, “Once you start doing all this pickiness, trying to set rules and regulations you want this much, and who’s the A-side B-side, it complicates things,” Schofield explained. He suggested such actions from boxers result in a fight not being made and disappointed fans. Meanwhile, a tweet from Garcia revealed the growing tensions with Oscar.

Ryan Garcia vs. Oscar De La Hoya

The cracks in their relationship started showing when Garcia faced the most difficult opponent of his career, Gervonta Davis, in April last year. Oscar failed to appear beside Garcia after he lost the fight by seventh-round stoppage. ‘King Ry’ felt abandoned, and the feud persists to this day. The pair is currently engaged in a lawsuit regarding Garcia’s contract.

But Garcia then tweeted, “Ryan Garcia vs Oscar De La Hoya at this point.” As of right now, there are no updates on who Garcia will face next.
