In fact, he takes pride in it. In an interview off late, the Las Vegas resident shed light on why most fighters in the industry can’t stand him.

Romero is about to step into the ring against Isaac Cruz on March 30! The fight became real following failed negotiations with Ryan Garcia. Nevertheless, since announcing his upcoming clash, the 15-1 boxer appeared in an interview with ES News today, revealing why most boxers are at odds with him!

Speaking to Ellie Seckbach from ES News, the American claimed, “I mean, I became champion with 12 fights and then became champion with 16 fights.” When probed about whether jealousy is the only reason for people’s aversion to him, Romero stated, “I am the most outspoken boxer. Do you see any other fighters [except] people who are actual superstars getting swarmed at fights? No, you do not!”

As far as Romero is concerned, other fighters can’t stand him because of the energy he embodies. “They are just mad [because] I walk into every room with the biggest d*** energy there is. And the thing is, they can’t compete with it. I have big d*** energy, that’s all it is,” said Romero. While Romero claims it’s his aura that puts people off, one of his recent tweets to a retired boxer may reveal why other boxers are at odds with him.

Romero demands royalties from boxing promoter

After Ryan Garcia dropped Devin Haney for a fight against Romero not long ago, Oscar De La Hoya suggested even the fight against Romero has fallen apart because Romero cashed himself out! However, the WBC super lightweight wasn’t going to have any of it! So, he turned to X with some derogatory words for the head of Golden Boy Promotions. Romero referred to De La Hoya as an “Drug addicted Con-man” while asking, “I want my royalties on Oscar De la fishnets brand.”

Afterward, Teofimo Lopez found the tweet, who wasn’t exactly buddy-buddy with De La Hoya, came to Oscar’s aid. Lopez, offended by the tweet directed to a boxing legend, claimed he would fight and defeat Romero if need be. “I’ll handle this fake champ like I did back in 2017,” wrote Lopez while sharing a training clip of him and Romero.
