Roy Jones Jr. was known for his versatility as a professional boxer. Apart from his unmatched speed and boxing acumen, the former four-division world champion was known for the relentless fighting style he brought with him every time he stepped foot inside the boxing ring. And even though he retired in 2018. Jones Jr’s love for the ring didn’t let him stay away from the sport. As he unretired in April this year to fight former UFC fighter, Anthony Pettis. Prior to that, he fought Mike Tyson in an exhibition bout in 2020. ‘Captain Hook’s’ prime years are certainly gone. However, his electrifying performances are still continuing to impress boxing fans around the world.

Recently, an old clip of one of Jones Jr.’s fights resurfaced on the internet. And, Jones Jr.’s exceptional performance against his opponent still draws awe from the fans of the sport. Jones Jr’s achievements in the sport are still to be matched by any other boxer. Notably, Jones Jr. is the only professional boxer to have ever made his debut in the middleweight division to go on and win the Heavyweight gold.

User @snapboxing posted a clip of the fight between Roy Jones Jr. and Richard Hall which took place in 2000. The clip shows Jones Jr. throwing punches with everything he got. And, not giving his opponent a chance to take a step back and defend himself.

In the fight, Jones Jr. anticipates a good opening. And, starts his attack with a left-right combo. As Hall ducks down to defend himself, Jones Jr. throws a flurry of punches. The ‘Superman’ with his razor-sharp combo hits Hall on his chin and head. Roy overwhelmed Hall, who seemed defenseless at that point.

The clip uploaded was titled, “Roy goes god mode.” And, it is safe to say that the title justifies the clip. Further in the fight, Jones Jr. gets Hall to the corner and lands monstrous punches. That was it for the referee who had seen enough to stop the fight. The post received massive comments from fans who were amazed by Roy’s greatness. A user named Frank believes that Jones Jr. is the best ever. He wrote, “He was incredible in his prime. I believe he was the best of the BEST – EVER.”

Another user pointed out Jones Jr.’s fight IQ and how he was able to capitalize on an opening. They commented, “Roy saw all openings and opportunities.” One user simply wrote, “1000000000 times better than Mayweather.”

Meanwhile, one user complimented Hall for taking so many punches and still standing willing to fight. They wrote, “That dude can take some punches and keep standing…..DAMN”. Along similar lines, one user jokingly wrote, “That’s when the Holy Spirit hit ya.”
