Ryan Garcia was hoping that he would fight Rolly Romero for the latter’s WBA Super-Lightweight title. However, uncertainty led Romero to move on with Isaac Cruz. In doing so, Rolly recently accused Oscar De La Hoya and ‘KingRy’ of wasting his precious time.
On that note, ahead of Romero vs. Cruz, now set for March 30th, Oscar De La Hoya now reacted to Romero’s time-wasting claim. Besides sharing his opinion about Cruz vs. Rolly, he confirmed when ‘KingRy’ will return to the ring. In addition, he gave boxing fans hope for a potential Garcia vs. Devin Haney.
Oscar De La Hoya brands Rolly Romero vs. Isaac Cruz “a great appetizer”

In his latest interview with Fight Hub TV, Oscar De La Hoya declared he was actually excited about Rolly Romero vs. Isaac Cruz. According to the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, although Garcia is not fighting Rolly, the winner of Romero vs. Cruz shall face ‘KingRy’. As a result, De La Hoya called Romero vs. Cruz an appetizer to the main course which will feature Garcia. “I think Rolly fighting Cruz is a great appetizer for what is to come for Ryan. The winner of that fight can actually get into the sweepstakes, the Ryan Garcia sweepstakes,” he said.
“So, yeah, I’m glad actually they are fighting. That’s the appetizer for Ryan,” De La Hoya added. On being asked what he made of Rolly accusing him of wasting his time, De La Hoya said, “That’s just brainwashing from their side. I don’t even think Rolly even knew what was going on.” Likewise, having claimed he praised Rolly, De La Hoya reiterated he was glad about ‘Pitbull’ and Rolly. Before concluding, Oscar De La Hoya confirmed Ryan Garcia will return this April.

Ryan Garcia can potentially fight Devin Haney
Recently, Garcia showed interest in a fight with Devin Haney. However, after training with Mayweather, he changed his plans and focused on Rolly. Now that Rolly has Cruz to tackle, De La Hoya hinted that ‘KingRy’ could likely face ‘The Dream’. “We have April 20th. That’s our date. I’m going to announce something really really big when it gets signed,” said De La Hoya.

“Look, I’m telling you Ryan holds the card, Devin Haney holds the cards. We just have to be strategic here When I have something concrete, it will be a huge announcement,” he added.
