IBF bantamweight title holder Ebanie Bridges will be flying to the ‘City of Golden Gate.’ She will defend her title for the second time on December 9 at the Chase Center. She faces fellow Aussie and current United States resident Avril Mathie on the Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis main card. The ‘Blonde Bomber’ has been preparing hard to retain her hard-won belt. Boxing Kingdom shared a short, ten-second clip of her training alongside her coach.

The tweet read, “The Queen of Boxing, Ebanie Bridges, [is] showing crazy power!” The sound of her punch combinations on the pads was loud and audible. But from the comments, it wasn’t too hard to perceive what the followers felt. For most, the nickname ‘Queen of Boxing’ became the biggest put-off. Some even questioned her accomplishments, which could support such tall claims.

She became the IBF bantamweight champion last year after defeating the Argentine Maria Cecilia Roman on March 26. Eight months later, she had to pack her bags and reach the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England, once again for the first title defense against Shannon O’Connell. One user appeared quite perturbed by the sound of Ebanie Bridges’ punches. They sounded very heavy. So, how, the user wondered, did she lose the title fight to Shannon Courtenay two years ago?

“Where are you seeing crazy power?” asked a follower. Perhaps irked, they said it may be more appropriate for Bridges to be known as a “boxing court jester.”

The following user also seemed to wonder about the basis for calling Ebanie Bridges the queen of boxing when she has barely accomplished anything in boxing.

Once again, another follower also seemed to wonder on what basis Bridges could be considered the ‘queen of boxing.’ According to the user, there are others more deserving of the title than her.

Taking it a bit seriously, this follower contended that if Ebanie Bridges wanted herself to be considered a champion, then she needed to be a real champion and the title of “social media queen of boxing” could be more befitting for her. However, the follower added that if she puts her heart and soul into boxing, then soon she will reach the heights.

The 37-year-old Sydney-born ‘Blonde Bomber’ turned to professional boxing when she was thirty-three. Given that she became a world title holder in such a short duration, that is no mean feat by any stretch of the imagination.

Life beyond the ring

The two-time Australian Golden Glove champion is known for her lifestyle outside the ring as well. The Only Fans model, in her previous career, used to be a math teacher and reportedly also worked as a ring girl. Even otherwise, the bantamweight champion is a huge success online. She has nearly 800k followers on Instagram and over 300k followers on X (formerly Twitter). Her boxing record stands at nine wins with one loss. In Avril Mathie, she meets a resilient opponent, who has so far suffered only one career defeat.
