Until a few days ago, things seemed calm between Devin Haney and Regis Prograis, scheduled to face each other on December 2. But all that changed during the press conference for the fight to be held at Chase Center in San Francisco. According to a previous tweet from Prograis, Haney might be undefeated on the paper, but not really. Wondering what he is talking about?

Ahead of their junior welterweight title fight, Prograis turned to X (formerly Twitter) to accuse Haney of paying to scrub a loss he suffered early in his career. Haney, 24, turned pro at the age of 17 and fought exclusively in Mexico for a couple of years. Moreover, Haney quickly retorted that the accusations were coming from WBA super lightweight champion Rolando Romero. However, during their recent press conference, Prograis discussed the details about the source of his accusation.

During an interview with Fight Hub TV, the reporter questioned Prograis about the source of the accusation. Prograis quickly responded by claiming he heard about it recently, and the same was later confirmed by someone Prograis claims is a credible source. “So, first, it was like a rumor, then a credible source told me it’s actually a true thing,” Prograis told Fight Hub TV.

He proceeded to elaborate that he wasn’t physically present when the incident occurred, but he trusted the source of the information. “ I wasn’t there, so I can’t really confirm it. But at the same time, some credible people told me,” said Prograis. In addition, Prograis even claimed his source could get him the location, date, and other information. “They can get me the location, the date, and all that stuff,” Prograis said.

Reflecting on the claim, Prograis expressed, “That sh** is corny to pay for.”

Haney is an undefeated lightweight champion who is moving up to the 140-pound weight division to face Prograis. The latter of the two is an accomplished southpaw and a two-time 140-pound champion. According to a report from Boxing Scene, Haney recently explained why he decided to fight Regis Prograis.

“No matter who it was, you know. I was willing to fight whoever at 140,” Haney told Boxing Scene. However, he went on to explain that Prograis stepped up for the fight, and he is the best at 140 pounds. “So, I’m happy I’m going into my first fight at 140 against the guy I feel like is the best at 140,” said Haney. On the other hand, defeating Haney could be the push Prograis’ needed to establish himself as the best.
