Nobody can deny that Sylvester Stallone always gave his 100 percent to all of his roles, be it his iconic characters like Rocky Balboa, John Rambo or Freddy Heflin. But for Rocky 3, even Stallone went too far to attain the best shape of his life for this film. For that reason, he followed a strict diet as he told in his interview with Wall Street Journal. During the shooting of the 1982 movie, Stallone stated that throughout the entire day, he used to consume at least 25 cups of coffee.
Moreover, he added, “My entire breakfast would be maybe two [small] oatmeal cookies made with brown rice and 10 cups of coffee because I wanted to keep my body fat down to 2.8 percent.” He even talked about how his restrictive diet started having an impact on his memory as well. Recently, BoxingKingdom posted about Stallone’s diet on X, and many fans were in disbelief.

The majority of the fans questioned the body fat percentage claims made on the post, which was based on Sylvester Stallone’s interview. So mostly, every comment highlighted how dangerous that much low body fat actually is for the human body.
One of the fans stated that it’s not at all possible to achieve this low body fat, and in the picture Stallone hardly looks at 10%.
2.8% is not possible. Doesn’t even look below 10% to be completely honest.

Another fan wrote that if his body fat was around 2.8%, then he wouldn’t be alive. Even bodybuilders cannot achieve such a low percentage.
Yeah, that's not 2.8% body fat, he'd be dead. The best bodybuilders in the world get to maybe 5% for a few hours on stage day

One fan claimed that Stallone is definitely lying. They even stated that he’s quite good at that.
No way 2.8%. If he said that he was lying (and we know he’s good at that, e.g. conveniently ignores the steroids etc). Just to reiterate – zero chance he got to 2.8%.

A fan was able to find a middle ground by mentioning that maybe at one point, during filming he reached up to 5% body fat for some time.
But it’s not possible, for anybody, to retain it for a long time.
I have no doubt that maybe at some point during filming, he went sub 5% for some scenes. Wouldn't have been for long though. That pic certainly doesn't look 2.8%

An Instagram user went a bit off-topic but wrote about how they feel his best physique truly came out in the next installment, Rocky 4.
I always think his best shape was in Rocky 4. Built of stone almost!
