It was indeed a spectacle to witness. George Kambosos agrees! The IBO world lightweight champion turned to X (formerly Twitter) to praise both fighters today. The undefeated Naoya Inoue took on Marlon Tapales in Ariake Arena, Koto-Ku, Japan, winning the fight via tenth-round KO. As a result, the ‘Monster’ became the undisputed super-bantamweight champion. But that’s not all!

Today, he also joined Terence Crawford as the only second man to hold all major titles in two different weight divisions while being undefeated. However, the Filipino Southpaw didn’t make it easy for the ‘Monster,’ even taking the lead at one point. But he could not mirror his last fight’s career-best performance this time against Inoue. Reacting to the unparalleled display of boxing brilliance, ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos praised both fighters.

The IBO lightweight champion claimed that Tapales is a true warrior from the Philippines, something that was very evident during the fight. Despite Inoue’s power punches coming his way, the Filipino stood his ground and responded in kind. Kambosos later turned to Inoue, claiming he was just too good to be beaten easily.

“Big heart from Tapales, true fighting Filipino warrior bloodline, but The Monster Inoue, what a fighter that man is just too good,” Kambosos wrote in his tweet. Inoue’s superiority during the fight became even more prevalent when he dropped Tapales in the tenth round to capture the undisputed super-bantamweight title. Moreover, Inoue credited his opponent for his fantastic showing during the post-fight interview.

Naoya Inoue: He never showed me fatigue

After Inoue got his hand raised, the undisputed champion added the seventh knockout victory to his ongoing streak. Even more impressive is the fact that the Japanese ‘Monster’ now holds 23 knockout wins out of his 26 total wins. Despite that, Inoue remained humble as ever, crediting Tapales for his unwavering spirit.

Later in the interview, Inoue even praised his opponent, “He never showed me fatigue or damage, so I was quite surprised when he went down in this round.”
