For Canelo Alvarez, a victory over Jermell Charlo might open the gateways for a ‘Bud’ fight, a prospect that piques the interest of the Nebraskan as well if the recent talks qualify. Strictly speaking, it’s a great line-up: Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. However, many fans observe a lack of enthusiasm and interest from the former in facing the Omaha-born Southpaw. His recent interview confused many fans significantly when he raised questions about Crawford’s record. Unsurprisingly, it also frustrated the Welterweight champion to pour his heart out on X.

So TMZ shared the video of the interview with Canelo Alvarez. The initial minutes took up the upcoming fight against Jermell Charlo, and the Mexican champion discussed how he felt about it. Then, he also spoke about what kept him going so strongly in the sport. Then the question came, “…are you tired of people asking you about Terence yet?”

‘Bud’ makes light of the Cinnamon

Canelo Alvarez replied, “Not look okay. I always say I respect Terence Crawford. He’s a uh very talented fighter, but he just win uh one big fight. If you see his record, he just beat uh one good fighter like Errol Spence is, but uh, other than that, I don’t think he’s been in [any] other great fight like Spence. He did a really good job with this Spence; he did, like, almost look very easy….”

That’s not the kind of talk you’d want to hear from a future opponent. Taking to his X, previously the Twitter account, a seemingly annoyed Terence Crawford, highlighting Alvarez’s point that he has yet to fight a better boxer than Errol Spence Jr. in his career, mentioned how hilarious and fanciful it sounded.

It’s a race! And it’s very tough to predict who will touch the finish line. Terence Crawford took Errol Spence Jr. through the wreckage avenue on July 29. Close behind him, two undisputed champions commenced their campaigns—against one another.

A win enables Canelo Alvarez to retain his Super Middleweight titles, besides opening up other possibilities, including Crawford. As he mentioned in the TMZ interview, “…but you know, you never know in boxing we’ll see we’ll see in the future.” In contrast, a loss would mean ‘Iron Man’ having the bragging rights, making him the second male boxer, after ‘Bud,’ to become a two-division undisputed champion.
