After the brutal loss, Errol Spence Jr. activated the rematch clause against Terence Crawford in September last year. As per the updates, the rematch will take place at 154 lbs. On that note, Sugar Ray Leonard recently told the media why he was interested in the rematch between ‘Bud’ and ‘The Truth’.

Additionally, while several people have doubted Spence Jr.’s abilities against ‘Bud’, Ray Leonard showed faith in the pugilist from Texas. In his opinion, the rematch at 154 lbs should be interesting. Well here is why Sugar Ray Leonard would watch Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford II.

After the punishment that Errol Spence Jr. took against Terence Crawford on the night of 29th July, several people wanted ‘The Truth’ to retire from the sport. One of them was Stephen A Smith. Provided the serious accidents Spence Jr. had already suffered, Smith urged Errol to consider immediate retirement following the “a** whooping” against ‘Bud’. Similarly, former Heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, claiming to love Spence Jr. to death, asked ‘The Truth’ to quit boxing and enjoy life. However, Sugar Ray Leonard feels otherwise.

In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, on being asked if he was interested in Errol Spence Jr. rematching Crawford, the former four-division world champion answered in the affirmative. In addition, he expected a potentially different outcome from the rematch at 154 lbs. “Oh yes. I mean everyone deserves a chance. It may be a different story. We’ll see,” Ray Leonard said. “As we move up in weight, it gets tougher and tougher and tougher. You have to know your body,” he added.

At this, one must believe that Spence Jr. knows his body since, right after the loss to Crawford, ‘The Truth’ announced he would fight better should the rematch be at 154 lbs.
