A Boxing bout not only involves two competitors inside the ring but also a referee. The referee has the power to decide the fate of these competitors; counting knockdowns, stopping a fight, and deducting points are just some of the crucial responsibilities of a referee. However, a referee is a human at the end of the day and is bound to make human errors. From time to time, the boxing world diverges in debates and discussions about referee stoppages. Recently, Carlos Adames retained his interim title Julian Williams at The Armory in Minneapolis. The bout ended in the ninth round via a TKO after referee, Mark Nelson stopped the fight.

However, Williams found the stoppage to be premature and did not shy away from making it evident. In the post-fight interview, he stated, “Think it was a terrible stoppage. I thought it was pretty much even and I was taking up and he was getting tired. You know what I mean? But what can I do?” His trainer was also furious with the stoppage and stated, “It’s always predictable — the A-side get this same s**t.” In addition, the boxing world also shared the same sentiments alongside Williams and his trainer.

A fan named Chris Castro suggested the referee to face consequences and reasoned his stance. He stated, “I agree. Mark Nelson should be reprimanded. Adames didn’t even knock Julian down once. It’s boxing, punching each other in the head you’re bound to be buzzed but he was responding back and wasn’t out of it like other fighter”

Lastly, Cyberfunk also disproved the stoppage and stated, “No lies told.”
