Oscar De La Hoya offers a fight to Shakur Stevenson against William Zepeda. Well, this is presenting the right opportunity at the right time, since Shakur Stevenson is feeling frosty in the hot seat of the lightweight division. Despite being surrounded by top-tier talents like Vasyl Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis, Stevenson can’t seem to land a dance partner for a big fight. It all started with crickets.

Top contenders in the lightweight division mysteriously ducked Stevenson when his name came up for a potential fight. This trend continued when a scheduled bout with Frank Martin fell apart at the last minute. The final straw? Opportunities against Vasyl Lomachenko and Emanuel Navarrete vanished like mirages in the desert. So, now the Golden Boy Promotions CEO wants Stevenson to meet Zepeda personally.

William Zepeda, the hard-hitting Mexican boxer, is throwing down the gauntlet to Shakur Stevenson, the slick defense specialist. Fresh off a dominant win against Mercito Gesta, Zepeda isn’t messing around. His promoters at Golden Boy believe he’s the perfect foil for Stevenson, drawing a comparison to Floyd Mayweather‘s battles with Jose Luis Castillo and Marcos Maidana.

Just like Mayweather, Stevenson is known for his defensive wizardry, but Zepeda’s relentless pressure could be the key to cracking the code. So, in a video posted on X, Oscar De La Hoya stated, “Hey Shakur so you say nobody wants to fight you. Well, check out William Zepeda on Saturday Night on DAZN, he’s begging me to fight you. See you there.” Well, Stevenson was definitely tempted by the offer.

Stevenson wrote on X, “Don’t threaten me with a good time.. I’m ready to pick your killer apart whenever he ready lol.” So there’s a good chance Stevenson might show up at Cosmopolitan Las Vegas to face off against William Zepeda. This is the perfect time to call out Stevenson since he was already planning to return to the ring in a few months.
