After Shakur Stevenson announced he was retiring from the sport of boxing last week, several people doubted his decision. Soon after the 26-year-old took to X and wrote that he would no longer compete in the ring, the WBC President informed the media that Shakur was not serious. Despite announcing retirement, Stevenson has remained extremely active on X.

Besides calling out Ryan Garcia, the current WBC Lightweight champion showed interest in Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid since he converted to Islam. But, today, after a fan put Shakur and Ricky Hatton‘s son on the same page, the fighter from Newark made a bold statement.

Only yesterday, Shakur Stevenson took to X and reposted a fan-made poster of the WBC Lightweight Champion facing off with Gervonta Davis. And given his previous interest in ‘Tank’ Davis, boxing fans were excited. Today, Shakur Stevenson, however, shifted his vision to  Ricky Hatton’s son, Campbell Hatton. Well, it isn’t that Shakur called out Cambell. After a fan wondered whether or not Shakur would come out of retirement to face Cambell Hatton for a massive payday in the UK, the 26-year-old painted a gruesome outcome.

According to Stevenson, if he were to square off against Cambell Hatton, he would punish the latter so much that Ricky Hatton himself would stop the fight. Likewise, he wrote, “I would punch him [Campbell Hatton] so many times Ricky would grab the towel himself and toss it in the ring“.  At this, while Hatton remained silent, several fans offered mixed reactions to Shakur’s statement.

As of now, Cambell Hatton, 23, is undefeated with 14 wins. On March 23rd, he will face James Flint with the BBBofC Central Area Super-Lightweight title on the line. Although Campbell is the son of a former unified Super-Lightweight champion of the world, there is a great difference between his and Shakur’s boxing skills. Likewise, a fan expected Shakur to defeat Campbell with his “hands behind [his] back“.

Meanwhile, one reminded Stevenson that he “hardly threw anything” in his last fight.

However, one argued that Shakur would stop Campbell the way Floyd Mayweather stopped Ricky Hatton. For those who don’t recall, Mayweather stopped Ricky in the 10th round of the fight.

On the other hand, one wanted to see the fight in Newark.
